About the Role:

The Data Engineer role is a technical developer and individual contributor of the People Analytics Data Engineering team responsible for the development of data warehouse modeling, data pipelines, and related analytics specific to People or workforce analytics in cloud data platforms.

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for ETL/ ELT data pipeline development within industry cloud tools, data warehousing, and modeling explicitly for analytics and working collaboratively within a team of technical developers via Agile development methodologies.

  • Regular development and production ready releases are expected focusing on data models, data structures and supporting pipelines to enable the analysis and analytics of broader People Analytics in order to provide actionable insights to increase Gartner's growth or attract and retain key talent.

  • Engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and team members to define and develop analytical solutions to drive the growth of the business or better attract and retain talent.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's or Masters degree: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Management Science, or Data Science or equivalent technical field

  • 2+ years of post-university working experience in data engineering.

  • Intermediate to expert programming skills in both Python and SQL languages.

  • Proven ability to use data, analytics, and business knowledge to solve complex business problems.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to define requirements for data analytics solutions, business intelligence, or analytical consulting preferably in the Human Resources, Talent Analytics or People domain related datasets.

  • Experience with ETL / ELT pipeline development and tools within cloud environments (e.g. Azure, Databricks).

  • Familiarity or working knowledge of common data visualization or business intelligence tools and ability to model data best for use within them (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau, Visier, etc.)

Preferred Experience / Skills:

  • Data warehousing and modeling experience using industry standard dimensional modeling techniques.

  • Familiarity or experience with statistical machine learning libraries and development via Python or R languages.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 72,000 USD - 96,750 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
