Job Description

The University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) is seeking a Shipping Technician III to join the MURR Shipping Team. This position will participate in the daily shipping of radioactive materials in compliance with regulations such as the Department of Transportation (DOT). This position will report to the Assistant Shipping Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and understand regulatory language
  • Perform the necessary operations to process and ship post-irradiated samples from the reactor center
  • Safely transport irradiated samples within the reactor facility and to the shipping and receiving building
  • Determine proper packaging classification and properly package samples for shipment
  • Accurately complete shipping documentation and perform audits of shipping folders
  • Perform follow-ups with all shipments
  • Update shipping container logs
  • Assist with the maintenance of shipping containers
  • Practice all required safety measures when exposed to ionizing radiation
  • Receive and distribute all incoming packages and priority deliveries
  • Assist in the processing and shipment of low-level radioactive waste
  • Perform and document results of required surveys, reports and audits
  • Decontaminate radioactive work areas
  • Perform general laboratory cleaning
  • Maintain availability of the loading dock during inclement weather
  • Explain complex information to others, ensuring understanding

Must be available for regular and consistent onsite work.

Shift

Monday-Friday, 7:30 - 4:30pm w/ occasional evenings and weekends, to be discussed in interview.

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 2 years from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. The ability to lift 50 lbs. is necessary.

Salary Range: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
