Job Details:

Purpose

Serve as a lead learning specialist for the UT High School social studies program. Implement and help design online courses, quizzes/tests, final exams, and K-12 credit by exams for UT High School students and district partners. Helps to facilitate online learning and coordinate support for student success. After the successful completion of a probationary period, this position may be eligible for a hybrid, remote schedule.

Responsibilities

Student and Instructional Service and Support

  • Implement and facilitate online courses to ensure student success by instructing students through a variety of online methods, such as: "live lessons", online feedback, facilitating online communication for student groups, and maintaining interactive and instructional course components.

  • Participate in MTSS, 504 and ARD meetings to support student needs. Communicate with students and parents as needed to support student success and student well-being.

  • Assist in coordinating instructional support to students and instructors/teachers. Organize resources, develop systems, and communicate with instructors to ensure instructors and students are successful. Implement systems for instruction, feedback, monitoring student progress, and grade reporting to ensure all instructors in the department maintain timely, accurate, and supportive instruction, communication, and grade reporting. Navigate a variety of technology systems including Canvas LMS, Skyward SIS, Mishell SIS, TEAMS and Proctorio to support students, parents, and instructors through streamlined processes.

  • Monitor student progress and grades, prepare reports, and determine recommendations for support to ensure student success in courses, exams, and STAAR. Coordinate and prepare student support materials and tutoring sessions online and face-to-face, including webinars and group and individual tutoring. Proctor STAAR and AP exams.

Course Development and Curricular Support

  • Develop scope and sequence, study guides, reading modules, diagrams/graphics, video content, and formative and summative assessment questions. Consider the needs of a variety of student groups. Utilize the Canvas LMS and a variety of technology applications to produce effective instruction to support student success.

  • Assist in the design of online courses, tests/quizzes, final exams, and support materials that are aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and implement best practices in online learning and assessment.

  • Assist in the design of credit by exams (CBEs) and participate in the annual TEA audit process, including coordination and feedback with contract auditors to ensure alignment with the TEKS. Respond to parent exam inquiries, prepare response documents, and provide communication aligned to state standards and UTHS policies. Prepare exams and support materials for the Proctorio remote online credit by exams and final exams.

Organizational Support

  • Collaborate with a team of subject area learning specialists, instructors, instructional technology developers, testing coordinators, and administration within UTHS to align and prioritize work to achieve measurable goals.

  • Communicate with internal and external colleagues and partners to support UTHS and its students.

  • Assist in preparing resources and training for partners and students.

  • Travel to attend conferences and training sessions and participate in marketing opportunities for the UT High School program and services.

  • Travel to assist with evaluation and state testing.

  • Other related functions and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in education, social studies, or a closely related fieldand five years of secondary teaching experience, or bachelor's degree and seven years of secondary teaching experience.Texas Teacher Certification in high school social studiesand atleast three years of experience teaching secondary social studies courses in Texas public schools.Experience designing instruction and assessments for high school social studies courses. Comprehensive understanding of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), STAAR expectations, and best practices in social studies instruction and assessment. Experience implementing support for a variety of student group needs, including emergent bilingual, Gifted/Talented, and special education students. Successful experience supporting students to achieve targeted objectives and tracking and reporting student data. Experience with online instruction. Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task with high level of proficiency. Professional demeanor. Exceptional organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in education, social studies, or a closely related field.More than five years of teaching experience.More than three years of experience teaching social studies courses in Texas public schools.Experience teaching multiple high school social studies courses, including Pre-AP/AP, Honors, Dual Credit, or IB. Three or more years' experience in a leadership role in an educational setting. Experience developing and delivering professional development to educators. In-depth understanding of the TEKS, Texas Education Code, FERPA, and graduation requirements. Extensive knowledge of best practices in assessment proctoring and scoring. Experience working with K-12 social studies curriculum, instruction, or assessmentin a learning management system.Educator certification in multiple subject areas. Experience developing or facilitating online instruction. Experience leading trainings for teachers for curriculum, social emotional, G/T, Advanced Placement, or emergent bilingual strategies. Experience with blended learning instruction. Experience presenting or marketing at conferences.

Salary Range

$60,000 + depending on qualifications
